Hi there!

I'm Anneliese, a third generation fashion designer & manufacturer based in Ireland. To say it's in my DNA is an understatement! I absolutely live and breathe my job, in fact I can easily say it's not really a "job" it's a way of life for me.

A life that has given me an inner dertermination that sometimes can be hard to explain. Surrounded by incredible people, who moulded, mentored, upskilled and constantly bring laughter to my day's of madness!

I hope you enjoy my story just a little!

where it all began

I started my Industrial sewing carrer at 7yrs old. Yes, I know, that does seem early to start on a factory floor, but much to the protests of my parents I was simply mesmorized by the machines, how they worked and how fast they could "do Stuff"!

Fabric Obsession

As a child I was fascinated by fabrics and the magic that surrounded them. Growing up around my parents clothing factory was like taking part in an interactive magic show. I travelled with Mum and Dad to international Trade Fairs from an early age, eagerly listening to textile merchants enthusiastically showing my parents their latest collections.

“I was hooked!”

Weeks later, chosen fabrics would arrive and so the magic would begin. Quickly rolled out in the cutting room by the ‘first magicians’, patterns were laid down, drawn around, cut out, then passed to the next magicians ‘the machinists’. Like a well orchestrated piece of music, before long the fabric was transformed into clothes and ready to be sent out to retailers.

By the time I was 7 yrs old, I was desperate to become a magician myself. So began my journey, sewing on industrial machines with the other ladies on school holidays. As the years followed, I began studying my craft ‘officially’, attending the Grafton Academy at just 12yrs for summer courses in Pattern cutting. Upon completing a 4 year Degree in Fashion and Textiles at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) in Dublin I gained further experience in international design studios, working alongside John Galliano’s pattern cutter Bill Gayton. Working my way through the different departments, from cutting room, factory floor to design studio from such an early age was invaluable to my education in the industry.

MY MISSION TODAY & WHY

Every great venture starts with a mission, and ours is clear: You know when you know something, and you just can't unknow it EVER again!

Well here's a fact! without skilled machinists, designer's can't create. But as designers, we have the opportunity to aquire an accredition. Where are the pieces of paper for the exceptionally highly skilled machinists that drive our industry. Don't they matter too? A question that I would constantly ask everyone from my parents to co-workers to industry peers.

In the Irish cencus 1841, there was 900,001 people working in the garment & textile industry in ireland. But, by 2022 there were only 949 people who said they currently work in our industry.

The mission became very clear, to redefine the fashion landscape in Ireland by fostering creativity, sustainability, and inclusivity. This is more than just words on a page; it's the heartbeat of everything we do. From the products we curate to the relationships we build, our mission guides us forward, inspiring us to reach higher and push further every day. Creating opportunities for all individuals working in manufacturing who help create *made in Ireland* goods. by fostering their talent and giving them an accredition to back up skills they have learnedI am proud that we, not only make The Linen Shirt Company label completely in hours, but currently work with several Irish Designers, who believe as strongly as we do, that we need to protect "made in Ireland" the label for the future generations too!
